Dr. Field teaches negotiation and conflict resolution both to graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Maryland. He participates in executive training programs through the School of Public Affairs Office of Executive Programs and is affiliated with the National Center for Smart Growth Research and Education. Dr. Field applies these skills in community level work, and continues his active interest in issues of housing innovation. He brings to these activities an understanding of the public and private sector concerns about policy, regulatory and consensus building having served with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy and with the National Association of Home Builders. He has published on housing policy, regulatory practice, consensus building and negotiation.
